Emerald Fennell Wore Our Brontë Sisters T-Shirt (And We’re Still Not Over It)

Emerald Fennell Wore Our Brontë Sisters T-Shirt (And We’re Still Not Over It)

Back when I was at university (a long time ago now), I wrote my dissertation on Wuthering Heights. I spent months immersed in the wildness of it - the atmosphere, the intensity, the way it refuses to behave like a 'typical' love story. It completely pulled me in and, in many ways, never really let go.

Not long after graduating, I started Literary Emporium in 2012. At the time, I just wanted to create products inspired by the books and authors I loved most and the Brontës were always at the heart of that.

Over the years, that early fascination slowly found its way into our designs. The Brontë Sisters t-shirt, in its current form, leans into that darker, more gothic energy. Something a little less delicate, a little more defiant. It’s a design that feels very personal to me as a combination of my love of literature and music, with its take on a 'metal band tee' style.

So when Emerald Fennell was spotted wearing our Brontë Sisters t-shirt at a Wuthering Heights press event earlier this year, it was genuinely a pivotal moment for my small business.

Seeing someone whose work I admire, who is now bringing a new adaptation of Wuthering Heights to life, wearing something I created… it felt surreal.

One of those rare, full-circle moments where everything seems to connect. From writing about the novel as a student, to building a brand around a love of literature, to seeing it show up in a huge cultural moment.

After that moment, the t-shirt sold out far quicker than we anticipated.

We had so many messages asking if and when it would be coming back, which is always a nice problem to have, but also meant a bit of a wait while we worked on restocking.

As I write this (18th March), The Brontë Sisters tee is back in stock. But they may not stick around for long so please be quick if you'd like one!

From a university dissertation to a design worn at a Wuthering Heights press event… It’s been a bit of a surreal journey. More than anything, it’s just a reminder of how powerful stories can be, and how lucky we are to share that love of literature with all of you.
